A Message From the Founder

I founded Houston Restoration Services in 1984. I was twenty-two years old, and Vice President for a local jewelry chain whose owner had died, when a friend of mine recommended roofing. So being young and naive, I jumped in with both feet, having not a clue how to run my own company.

While it looked easy on paper, I had no idea that roofing would be so difficult. Dealing with installers, insurance companies, material suppliers, mortgage firms, OSHA, state government, not to mention Uncle Sam became a real education from the college of hard knocks. Indeed, after struggling the first six years, I felt I'd earned a doctorate in dealing with just about every small business issue one can imagine.

Most importantly, I learned how to find and use only the best, most reliable installers, roofing products, and best installation methods. Anything less is a recipe for failure. That is why there is such a high bankruptcy rate in the roofing industry. It just seems so easy a business to the naive! After my seventh year in business, I knew I'd made it. Just as important, I have also helped many contractors support their families as well.

By the mid-nineties, HRS had become one of the largest installers of ELK products in the Houston area, and we were one of only six companies to earn their "Peak Performance" contractor status. We remain a proud official "MasterElite" after GAF purchased ELK in 2007. Since 2002, HRS is also a "Certified Installer" for Mule Hide Single Ply and Elastomeric commercial roofing products.

I am very proud of what we've achieved in the first thirty-four years of continuous business! Whether its every day replacement, new construction, emergency repair, or storm damage, we can and have done it all! From the City of Houston trusting HRS to replace the wood shingles roof on the Pillot House, one of the oldest homes in Houston, or The City of Sugar Land awarding us their highest community service award for emergency storm management, you too can trust that HRS will be there for you whenever you need us for years to come!
